Responsibilities
- Read blueprints to determine scope of work
- Select type and size of pipe, working with carbon and stainless steel
- Cut, bend, thread, and assemble piping components together in various positions
- Prepare, cut, fabricate, layout, fit, position, and assemble piping components together
- Bolt, clamp, and tack-weld parts to secure in position for welding
- Install hangers, supports, valves, and components according to piping system plans and specifications
- Perform leak tests to ensure the quality of the pipe and the piping systems
- Proper identification and use of tools required for tasks (grinders, drills, beveling machines, etc.)
- Operate forklifts and boom lifts
- Hoist loads using slings, chains, shackles, hooks, cables, and other rigging equipment
Requirements
- Must be able to read blueprints
- Must be able to layout, fit, position, and assemble piping
- Must have previous industrial pipe fitting experience
