About the position

The Pipe Foreman position at Southland Holdings involves overseeing the installation and repair of water mains, fire hydrants, and sanitary sewer lines for a large heavy civil project in Tampa, FL. The role requires strong leadership skills to manage field crew activities, ensure quality and safety standards, and maintain effective communication with project management. The foreman will also be responsible for daily reporting and participating in safety training programs.

Responsibilities

  • Run main line machine for the installation of a pipe.
  • Provide overall leadership and direct the activities of field crew employees.
  • Work with field employees to increase productivity.
  • Oversee, instruct, and participate in the installation and repair of water mains, fire hydrants, sanitary sewer lines, etc.
  • Perform any required testing for installed systems.
  • Responsible for crew performance in meeting quality and safety standards.
  • Fill out daily reports including crew member's hours, equipment hours, appropriate cost codes, and production quantities.
  • Communicate effectively with Project Superintendent and Project Managers.
  • Participate in safety-related training programs to increase skill set and knowledge base.
  • Perform jobsite quality control checks.
  • Ensure quality assurance on all phases of work relating to spreading, rolling, compacting and patching asphalt.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of Water & Sewer Utility experience.
  • At least 2 years of Utility Foreman experience.
  • Experience in large diameter storm drains, water main, dewatering, well point system.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Extensive knowledge of the tools and equipment involved in utility work such as excavators, pumps, backhoes, bobcats, loaders, etc.
  • Ability to understand and interpret construction drawings and specs.
  • Ability to plan, organize, direct, and evaluate crew members' work.
  • OSHA Safety Course Certification (30 hour)
  • CPR Certification.

Nice-to-haves

  • FDOT experience preferred but not required.
