About The Position

The Pipe Helper position involves assisting skilled craftspersons in various supportive duties under immediate supervision. The role is entry-level and requires learning and performing tasks related to piping installation and maintenance, with responsibilities varying based on experience and assigned job step.

Requirements

• May require a high school diploma or its equivalent with previous years of experience in the field or in a related area.
• Possess knowledge, skills, and abilities relevant to the position.
• Ability to understand, follow, and transmit written and oral instructions effectively.
• Field experience in chosen craft discipline is preferred.
• Knowledge of the safe and efficient use of hand tools, power tools, and layout tools.

Responsibilities

• Learn to read isometric drawings and take measurements for piping installation.
• Assist skilled craftsman in aligning, bolting, and clamping components of fabricated metal products for welding.
• Help with the assembly and securing of pipes, tubes, fittings, and related equipment according to specifications.
• Position and secure materials and workpieces during installation according to applicable plans and specifications.
• Learn to distinguish varying thickness and types of metal materials.
• Manually handle and securely apply rigging equipment as needed.
• Operate tools and equipment including beveling machines, cut-off grinders, hammers, torches, magnetic drills, and a Saw-Zall.
• Layout and install equipment, vessels, skids, pumps, pipe, and supports.
• Assist with hydro testing piping systems.
