About the position

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated water and sewer technician to join our team for water service and lead replacement projects in the City of Racine. The Pipe Layer will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of sewer systems, requiring a strong understanding of heavy equipment operation and various technical skills related to cabling and fiber splicing. This role involves working both independently and as part of a team to ensure efficient and effective sewer system operations.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy equipment such as backhoes and bulldozers for excavation and installation tasks.
• Perform cabling and fiber splicing to ensure proper connectivity within the sewer system.
• Dig trenches and holes for sewer line installation, ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
• Utilize hand tools and voltmeters for maintenance tasks and troubleshooting issues.
• Conduct high voltage work safely, adhering to all safety protocols.
• Operate bucket trucks for elevated work on sewer systems when necessary.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment by following all safety guidelines.

Requirements

• Proven experience in heavy equipment operation is preferred.
• Familiarity with cabling techniques and fiber splicing is highly desirable.
• Experience in digging, backhoe operation, bulldozing, high voltage work, voltmeter usage, hand tools, and bucket operation will be considered an asset.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure are essential.
• A commitment to safety practices in all aspects of work is required.

• Experience with water service, sewer lateral, sewer repair, and water main.
