About the position

Audubon is currently seeking a Pipe Fitter Superintendent to join our team. The Pipe Fitter Superintendent will lead, direct, and coordinate the work of ACS trade labor with regard to the Mechanical systems included in the project. This role is crucial for ensuring safety, schedule delivery, quality of work performed, and adherence to the project budget. The Piping Superintendent has supervisory responsibility for General Foremen, Field Engineers, and trade labor in their area of responsibility. This position reports to the Project Superintendent or Site Manager. The Pipe Fitter Superintendent will be responsible for managing and making decisions related to the performance of work concerning scheduling, delivery, logistics, quality control, and trade employee staffing levels. This includes managing the site safety program as required and ensuring subcontractor compliance with ACS standards and all applicable safety codes and regulations. The Superintendent will also manage work among assigned trades to promote a coordinated project operation, resolving local area problems regarding procedures, precedence, design clarifications, adequate labor and equipment, schedule, and all other appropriate matters. In addition to these responsibilities, the Superintendent will supervise and develop General Foremen, Foremen, Field Engineers, and/or interns, as assigned, including providing input on or completing performance appraisals. They will ensure strict adherence to ethics and compliance requirements at all times, create schedules, determine sequencing of work, and develop and implement recovery strategies to maintain project schedule and budget. Communication with owners and engineers regarding field issues is essential, as is investigating and resolving such issues. The Superintendent will manage weekly progress tracking and ensure that work is installed in compliance with and conforms to the approved contract documents. The role also involves working with the Engineer on the coordination effort for all mechanical systems, equipment, and piping layouts for pipe trades on a master coordination set of drawings and 3D model, securing the approval of the architects and engineers. Leading project inspections, startup, commissioning, turnover, and training processes, as well as managing the punch list required for acceptance and handover of all systems, are also key responsibilities. The Superintendent will review project changes in conjunction with the Project Engineer and keep detailed daily records of ACS's trade contractors' work progress, while also participating in preconstruction efforts such as constructability and logistics.

Requirements

  • Confirmed 10+ years of experience in Industrial Pipe fitting trade.
  • NCCER Certified Plus (Preferred).
  • Ability to read and interpret field drawings and material takeoffs.
  • Follow established job-site safety and work regulations, maintaining a safe and clean work area.
  • Identify safety hazards and take corrective action to eliminate or minimize hazards.
  • Specific knowledge of Industrial Mechanical Systems.
  • Produce quality work that meets plans, specifications, and industry standards.
  • Good reading comprehension and communication skills with co-workers and supervisors.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as a team player.
