Familiarity with different types of metals is essential, as is the ability to locate and mark bending and cutting lines accurately. In addition to technical skills, the position demands a commitment to safety, with expectations for active participation in safety meetings and adherence to OPD and client safety policies. The work environment can be physically demanding, requiring the ability to lift and carry heavy objects, stand for extended periods, and work in various weather conditions. Candidates must be prepared for travel, including extended periods away from home, and be willing to work shifts that may extend up to 12 hours a day, seven days a week. Responsibilities

  • Assisting pipefitters with setting, assembling, and installing pipe.
  • Preparing pipe and fittings for hoisting and rigging.
  • Locating and marking bending and cutting lines of the metal.
  • Cleaning work area and restocking supplies and materials as necessary.
  • Operating tools and equipment including beveling machines, cut-off grinders, hammers, torches, magnetic drills, welding machines, and a Saw-Zall.
  • Participating in a strong safety culture and recognizing safety hazards and risks.
  • Attending onsite safety meetings and following safety policies and procedures.
  • Displaying a positive attitude and working effectively in a team environment.

Requirements

  • 6 months previous experience working in an industrial environment.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate in English.
  • Knowledge of pipe fittings, bolts, valves, and different types of metals.
  • Experience in a gas plant construction environment is preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • 6+ months working as a pipefitter helper.
  • Previous experience reading ISO's and drawings.
  • Past exposure to different metals and knowledge of pipe fittings, bolts, valves, etc.
