About the position

The Pipefitter position at the VA North Texas Health Care System involves installing, maintaining, and repairing plumbing facilities and equipment within the Engineering Department. The role requires working with various types of pipes and fittings, including high and low pressure steam systems, and ensuring the functionality of medical air, oxygen, vacuum, and gas systems throughout the hospital.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, and repair plumbing facilities and equipment such as showers, sinks, toilets, and dishwashing machines.
• Maintain and repair medical air, oxygen, vacuum, and gas systems, including related components and subsystems.
• Repair laundry and dietetic equipment, including steam mains and steam cookers.
• Install and replace pipe covering as needed.
• Perform maintenance on steam equipment throughout the hospital.

Requirements

• Must be a U.S. Citizen to apply for this job.
• Evidence of training or experience in plumbing or pipefitting is required.
• Ability to perform heavy lifting and carrying of 45 pounds and over.
• Experience in equipment assembly, installation, and repair.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with steam systems and medical gas systems.
• Knowledge of plumbing codes and regulations.
