About the position
The Pipefitter position at the William S. Middleton Memorial Veterans Hospital involves performing safety and preventive maintenance inspections of utility systems and equipment, ensuring compliance with VA regulations and National Codes. The role includes welding repairs and fabrication, as well as inspecting and maintaining various plumbing and heating systems. The Pipefitter will work in a full-time capacity and is expected to handle physical demands associated with the job.
Responsibilities
- Make safety and preventive maintenance inspections of utility systems and equipment.
- Perform welding repairs and fabrication using oxygen, acetylene, arc welding, and pipe welding.
- Inspect, adjust, clean, and repair plumbing fixtures and systems, steam-operated equipment, heating and water systems, kitchen and laundry equipment, air compressors, medical compressed air systems, vacuum systems, oxygen systems, and natural gas distribution systems.
- Read and interpret blueprints and manufacturers' specifications for installing and repairing equipment.
- Test systems and equipment after completing work.
Requirements
- Must be a U.S. Citizen to apply for this job.
- Evidence of training or experience sufficient to perform the duties of this position is required.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and specifications.
- Experience in equipment assembly, installation, repair, and troubleshooting.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with medical compressed air systems and vacuum systems.
- Knowledge of VA regulations and National Codes.
