About the position

The Pipeline Construction Project Engineer is responsible for performing technical and administrative tasks for construction projects, particularly in the oil and gas sector. This role requires strong communication, critical thinking, and organizational skills, as well as the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. The engineer will collaborate with management and field leadership, manage project schedules and budgets, and ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards. Frequent travel to project sites is required, making adaptability and a willingness to learn essential traits for success in this position.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and create RFIs and submittals.
  • Work with management and field leadership to assemble information for change orders.
  • Track and update daily and weekly reporting from information provided by field leadership.
  • Effectively write and manage purchase orders within approval limits, including invoice reconciliation.
  • Identify and procure project-specific materials.
  • Facilitate vendor deliveries to job sites.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules and budgets with field leadership and project management.
  • Build and maintain professional relationships with field leaders, clients, sub-contractors, and vendors.
  • Prepare and participate in project meetings as requested.
  • Manage One-Calls at the beginning of the project and update as needed.
  • Ensure all project documents are current and stored appropriately.
  • Track, interpret, and communicate various job data.
  • Promote safety programs through active participation.

Requirements

  • A four-year engineering or construction management degree or equivalent technical training and/or experience.
  • Experience in oil and gas construction is preferred.
  • Effective interpersonal, time management, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to function well under stress with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to prioritize effectively.
  • Moderate to advanced computer skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in pipeline construction projects.
  • Familiarity with construction plans and specifications.
