About the position

The Pipeline Controller is responsible for monitoring and maintaining safe and efficient pipeline operations in compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. This role involves working rotating 12-hour shifts, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays, to ensure the pipeline system operates smoothly under various conditions.

Responsibilities

• Train and test on the Olympic Pipeline system to attain operator qualifications (OQ).
• Remotely monitor and control the pipeline system under normal, abnormal, and emergency conditions.
• Assess, anticipate, and respond to alarms on the pipeline system.
• Monitor the leak detection system and respond to potential leak alarms.
• Manage pump schedules for efficiency, including DRA and unit selection.
• Communicate with shippers to ensure reliable volumes and pressures at all points.
• Accurately calculate and document batch information for stakeholders.
• Conduct thorough shift turnovers through effective communication and documentation.
• Maintain a high level of performance and attendance, working non-traditional hours as needed.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Strong understanding of pipeline operations, hydraulics, SCADA, and leak detection systems.
• Strong analytical skills and ability to think quickly in emergency situations.
• Ability to analyze changing conditions and make adjustments within operating parameters.
• Good problem-solving skills and ability to utilize multiple resources for solutions.
• Strong customer focus with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently with little supervision and as part of a team.
• Basic understanding of PHMSA CRM guidelines.
• Oil and gas industry experience preferred.
