About the position

AECOM’s Water Business Line is seeking a talented Pipeline Design Project Engineer, with a home base within New England. It is expected that this role will provide support to projects throughout the United States. The candidate will work and learn directly from one of AECOM's globally recognized pipeline design experts. The ideal candidate will be an enthusiastic geotechnical or structural engineer interested in soil-structure interaction to support: new pipeline design and installation, existing installations, failure and forensics analysis, condition assessment, finite element analysis (FEA), and rehabilitation. Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with pipeline design experts to develop and review design and construction plans, specifications, and cost estimates.
  • Conduct field inspections and condition assessments to ensure compliance with design standards and regulations.
  • Work on projects related to pipeline failure analysis and pipeline forensics analysis.
  • Provide technical guidance to AECOM project teams.
  • Technical writing, reviewing, and providing clear, concise input to investigations, memorandums, or solutions reports.
  • Stay current on industry trends and advancements in pipeline design and engineering.

Requirements

  • BS in Geotechnical or Structural Engineering, and 8 years of related experience.
  • 8 years of project experience in design of municipal water, wastewater and/or stormwater pipeline design, analysis, installation, and inspection.
  • Previous experience in Mathcad / MATLAB and FEA.
  • Valid Driver’s License required to regularly drive AECOM vehicles to project sites.
  • As a condition of employment, selected candidate must pass a Motor Vehicle Records review.

Nice-to-haves

  • Licensed PE.
  • Master’s Degree.
  • Previous experience working with pipeline design codes, standards, and regulations.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret 2D and 3D CAD drawings.
  • Understanding of construction methods, such as open-cut and trenchless (micro tunneling, jack and bore, etc.) for sewer and water infrastructure.
  • Understanding of water and storm and sanitary sewer rehabilitation.
  • Past experience with pipeline condition assessment and analysis.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully work in diverse teams.
