About the position

Flint Hills Resources is seeking a senior level Environmental Engineer to support the Pipelines and Terminals Operation group in Rosemount, MN. The role focuses on ensuring compliance with environmental programs across multiple states, including Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, Missouri, Illinois, and Texas. The position offers flexible work arrangements and a unique '9/80' work schedule, allowing employees to have every other Friday off. Responsibilities

  • Apply subject matter expertise to help operation and project management identify and meet environmental compliance requirements.
  • Assist with day-to-day environmental compliance requirements found in permits, plans, and applicable regulations.
  • Collect data and prepare regulatory reports, including waste reports and wastewater DMR's.
  • Conduct desktop screening and permitting for capital and maintenance projects.
  • Coordinate with federal, state, and local agencies to secure approvals and ensure environmental compliance of projects.
  • Manage Clean Water Act Section 401/404 Permitting/Compliance and prepare Construction Stormwater and SWPPP per NPDES requirements.
  • Support Waste Management Compliance, including hazardous waste accumulation, profiling, disposal, and annual reporting.
  • Maintain SPCC plans and participate in emergency response drills for Emergency Response Compliance.
  • Manage EPCRA Compliance, including new chemical reporting and annual Tier Two Reporting.
  • Participate in self-assessments to verify compliance system effectiveness.
  • Engage in environmental reviews as part of the Management of Change process and develop effective environmental training.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • Five (5) or more years of experience in environmental engineering or related field, or seven (7) or more years of relevant industry experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Three (3) or more years of experience with environmental compliance and permitting on pipeline projects or in a manufacturing/industrial facility.
  • Experience in the petroleum industry.
  • Experience in the pipeline industry.
  • Experience managing or coordinating project teams.
