About the position

The Pipeline Integrity Engineer (or Staff Engineer) position at Colonial Pipeline Company involves analyzing data related to pipeline integrity threats and performing engineering analyses to ensure the safe operation of the pipeline system. The role includes selecting appropriate testing methods, interpreting results, and making decisions on repairs and excavations. This position plays a crucial role in developing annual plans for pipeline integrity assessments and managing related projects.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze data about the pipeline system to understand integrity threats.
  • Perform engineering analyses to determine fitness-for-service of pipelines.
  • Select appropriate testing and inspection methods and technologies.
  • Interpret results of tests and inspections and make decisions on excavations and repairs.
  • Assist in the development of annual plans for pipeline integrity assessments.
  • Determine specific requirements for pipeline integrity assessments.
  • Manage other pipeline integrity related projects or programs as assigned.
  • Review and provide input for updates to Colonial's Integrity Management Program (IMP) Manual and Pipeline Maintenance Manual (PLMM).
  • Provide integrity engineering support for field projects and business development projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university; will consider a combination of experience and/or education.
  • 3+ years of engineering experience in pipeline integrity related field.
  • Ability to travel 20% of the time and available to work after hours and/or on weekends, if needed.
  • Ability to manage third-party engineering consultants.
  • Solid knowledge of pipeline system operations and integrity management programs.
  • Strong critical thinking, analytical, organization, technical writing, and communication skills.
  • Strong knowledge of pipeline integrity management and database systems.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) or Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification.
