About the position

The Oracle DBA role involves monitoring and optimizing database performance, ensuring security, and leading technical projects related to database management. The position requires a strong background in database design, maintenance, and performance tuning, along with the ability to guide less experienced personnel and collaborate with project managers.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor database activity and file usage, ensuring necessary resources are present.
  • Analyze database performance characteristics and recommend tuning opportunities.
  • Define logical attributes and design complex data structures for database implementation.
  • Optimize database accessibility and develop load balancing architectures.
  • Implement and support database security regulations and monitor potential threats.
  • Plan and install upgrades of database management systems (DBMS) software.
  • Function as a technical project leader for database installations and upgrades.
  • Assist project managers in developing project plans for database activities.
  • Integrate databases with commercial off-the-shelf software and resolve conflicts.
  • Design and test database installation and recovery scenarios.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Six or more years of experience in database design or maintenance.
  • Experience with computer hardware and software installation/upgrading procedures.
  • Experience with database and system maintenance procedures.
  • Experience with database creation techniques and DBMS features.
  • Experience with database performance tuning.
