About the position

The Piping Engineering Manager will lead and manage the piping engineering group within the multi-discipline Engineering Department. This role is crucial for maintaining technical competencies, aligning the piping group's capabilities with the company's strategic goals, and providing technical support to various teams including Business Development and Project Management.

Responsibilities

  • Define, implement, and monitor Piping Group's practices, policies, and procedures.
  • Manage performance appraisals and assist direct reports with goal setting.
  • Engage employees in process improvement initiatives and provide coaching and counseling.
  • Collaborate with HR on personnel actions including hiring and dismissals.
  • Identify training needs and implement continuous development programs for staff.
  • Analyze situations and data to determine the best course of action for organizational goals.
  • Engage in high-level technical discussions with clients and sub-contractors to resolve issues.
  • Support Sales & Marketing with technical strategies to retain and attract clients.
  • Prepare technical data and presentations for sales and project teams.
  • Assist in the tender phase of projects to ensure vendor compliance.
  • Anticipate project performance problems and implement communication measures.
  • Manage project execution efficiencies within the Piping Group.
  • Define technology and resource needs for the Piping Group.
  • Assist in the requisition and acquisition of capital equipment and software.
  • Provide guidance and check the work of less experienced engineers and designers.
  • Coordinate new designs and conduct design review meetings.
  • Keep Chief Engineer informed of progress and significant problems.
  • Occasionally travel to sub-contractor factories for acceptance tests.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university.
  • At least 15 years of direct experience in offshore oil & gas, shipbuilding, or single point mooring industry.
  • At least 5 years of engineering project lead or supervisory experience.
  • Demonstrated supervisory experience with strong organizational and leadership skills.
  • Technical authority in offshore piping design and industry codes.
  • Experience with LNG, LPG, Condensates, LCO2, Ammonia, H2, or Cryogenics is desirable.
  • Excellent oral and written communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of the AVEVA Software Platform (E3D, AVEVA Engineering, MDS).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Ceasar II Pipe Stress Analysis Software.
