About the position

The substitute teacher at Faith Bible Christian School is responsible for maintaining the educational environment in the absence of the regular teacher. This role emphasizes modeling Christ-like character, fostering academic excellence, and integrating a Biblical worldview into teaching practices. The substitute teacher will ensure that students continue to thrive academically and spiritually, supporting the school's mission to prepare students for future success.

Responsibilities

  • Model and uphold the school's mission of developing Christ-like character.
  • Establish and enforce rules of behavior for students in the classroom.
  • Prepare lessons, units, and projects to meet learning objectives.
  • Communicate clear objectives for lessons, units, and projects.
  • Adapt teaching methods and materials to meet students' interests and learning styles.
  • Encourage students to explore learning opportunities and career paths.
  • Create, assign, and grade various assessments for students.
  • Work with students one-on-one for additional support.
  • Track and evaluate student academic progress.
  • Lead parent-teacher meetings.
  • Maintain positive relationships with students, parents, coworkers, and supervisors.
  • Manage student behavior and create a safe, respectful classroom environment.
  • Communicate regularly with parents about student progress.
  • Help students improve study methods and habits.
  • Administer tests to evaluate students' progress.

Requirements

  • Thorough knowledge of teaching best practices and legal educational guidelines.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Well-organized and committed to educational excellence.
  • Creative and energetic with strong moral values.
  • First Aid/CPR certification.
