About the position

The PK Teacher at Edinburg Consolidated Independent School District is responsible for providing students with effective learning experiences through distance, virtual, or face-to-face instruction. The role aims to support students' intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth while enabling them to develop essential competencies and skills for successful functioning in society.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement lesson plans and activities through various learning modalities to fulfill district curriculum requirements.
  • Prepare lessons accommodating different student learning styles and needs.
  • Present subject matter according to Texas Education Agency guidelines and district policies.
  • Plan and use appropriate instructional strategies and materials that reflect understanding of student needs.
  • Conduct assessments of student learning styles to inform instructional planning.
  • Collaborate with special education teachers to modify curricula for special education students as per IEP guidelines.
  • Work with staff to determine instructional goals and methods according to district requirements.
  • Plan and supervise assignments of teacher aides and volunteers.
  • Utilize technology to enhance the teaching and learning process and provide blended learning opportunities.
  • Help students analyze and improve their study methods and habits.
  • Conduct ongoing assessments of student achievement through formal and informal testing.
  • Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned and sponsor approved outside activities.
  • Create a conducive classroom environment for learning and manage student behavior according to the Student Code of Conduct.
  • Communicate with students and parents through various platforms and maintain an ongoing contact log.
  • Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university.
  • Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements for subject and level assigned.
  • Knowledge of subjects assigned and general curriculum and instruction.
  • Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior effectively.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish.
  • Experience with virtual teaching platforms.
