About the position

The PL/SQL Developer position at Apex Systems, Inc. is a critical role within an integrated product team that includes system owners, developers, and testers. The successful candidate will be responsible for a variety of tasks including the analysis, design, coding, unit testing, and documentation/audit checks for assigned system change requests. This role requires a strong focus on migration tasks that necessitate customized coding in PL/SQL to meet end-user specifications. The developer will ensure that all system changes comply with established developer guide requirements and standards. In addition to coding, the candidate will participate in system requirements reviews, critical design reviews, test readiness reviews, and pre/post-implementation reviews as part of the defined system development life cycle. This collaborative environment will require the developer to work closely with users to define the scope and objectives of existing or new systems, providing analytical support and technical advice throughout the conceptualization, development, and implementation phases. The role also involves planning and scheduling new application systems projects, which includes identifying objectives, time frames, costs, and manpower requirements. The developer will perform necessary tasks to document hazards within software systems using various analysis tools and techniques, ensuring adherence to government or commercial directives, standards, guidelines, and criteria concerning software safety and systems safety. The position demands a proactive approach to problem-solving, with the ability to identify and correct issues uncovered by testing or customer feedback, while also evaluating code for validity and compatibility with devices or operating systems.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, code, test, and debug software using expertise.
  • Work in various areas such as equipment or software design, engineering evaluation, or test.
  • Define existing or new system scope and objectives with users.
  • Provide analytical support and technical advice during development phases.
  • Plan and schedule new application systems projects with users and operations personnel.
  • Identify and document hazards within software systems using analysis tools.
  • Review and evaluate systems and software for adherence to standards and guidelines.
  • Confirm design mitigations are captured in documentation and verify implementation.
  • Perform basic design, build, or maintenance of software using various tools.
  • Identify problems uncovered by testing or customer feedback and correct them.
  • Evaluate code to ensure it meets industry standards and is compatible with devices.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of software development experience required.
  • 3-5+ years of PL/SQL coding experience.
  • Advanced Oracle PL/SQL skills.
  • Experience with Oracle DBMS 12c or higher.
  • Experience with APEX Office Print (AOP) is a plus.
  • Experience with Agile System Development Life Cycle methodologies required.
  • Proficiency in HTML.
  • Knowledge of IT Service Management practices is beneficial.
  • Excellent interpersonal and consultative skills.
  • Strong documentation and communication skills.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to motivate others.
  • Good problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to follow complex instructions and work independently or in a team.
  • Knowledge of full product development life-cycle practices is desired.
