About the position

Texas A&M University - Texarkana is seeking a Software Applications Developer III to provide technical support for the Banner Student Information System, focusing on the Student Module and associated systems. The role requires strong SQL/PL/SQL programming skills, attention to detail, and effective communication abilities, with an emphasis on collaboration within a diverse team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Consult with users to define application requirements and verify design for the Banner ERP and its modules.
  • Recommend technical and procedural designs for new or revised applications, including flow charts and programming guidelines.
  • Review, modify, and write program code using Oracle SQL and PL/SQL to maintain and enhance the Banner ERP.
  • Serve as the primary contact for TAMUT Functional users regarding ERP issues and process updates.
  • Assist in resolving technical problems and provide advanced technical support to customers.
  • Research problems and recommend solutions, providing resource estimates and progress reports.
  • Write documentation for system procedures and guidelines for application users.
  • Participate in training and professional development sessions.
  • Create and maintain membership accounts with Ellucian and Texas Connection Consortium to stay updated on changes impacting the Banner ERP.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5 years of experience in software development or related field.
  • Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications.
  • Strong project management, mentoring, negotiation, and client relations skills.
  • Excellent written communication, analytical, interpersonal, and organizational skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • 2 years of experience in higher education.
  • Knowledge of Oracle SQL, PL/SQL programming language, and Relational Database Management Systems.
  • Experience with Unix/Linux operating systems and shell scripting languages.
