About the position

The Oracle PL/SQL Developer will be responsible for creating back-end software for existing mission-critical applications within the DHS PMT IT Application Development team. This role requires interpreting business requirements, writing functional code, unit testing, and fixing defects in legacy code. The developer must be a team player with excellent communication skills and the ability to work with source control on multiple branches.

Responsibilities

• Participate in requirements analysis
• Take direction from senior developers
• Collaborate with internal teams to produce software
• Write clean, scalable code
• Unit test and prepare applications for deployment
• Revise, update, refactor and debug code
• Improve existing software
• Create documentation as required
• Provide production support
• Available to provide third tier support to the help desk on assigned weekends and holidays if needed

Requirements

• Proven experience as a PL/SQL Application Developer using Toad, SQL Plus (minimum 5 years)
• Ability to create views, packages, functions, and stored procedures
• Ability to work with collections
• Ability to work with async processes
• Interpret execution plans and optimize queries and functions
• Ability to create complex DML and debug
• Excellent troubleshooting and communication skills
• Attention to detail is of the utmost importance
• BS/BA in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience with at least 5 years of development experience
