About the position

The Oracle PL/SQL Developer role involves designing, developing, testing, maintaining, and supporting batch applications using Oracle PL/SQL specifically for Retail Commissions and Amortization. The position requires collaboration with various teams to understand requirements, optimize code, and ensure compliance with coding standards and SOX procedures. The developer will also be responsible for production support and monitoring batch processes to meet established SLAs.

Responsibilities

  • Develop Oracle PL/SQL applications.
  • Create Oracle PL/SQL packages, stored procedures, and functions.
  • Create database objects like tables, views, triggers, types, synonyms based on requirements.
  • Enhance existing applications to produce commissions reports.
  • Work with Manager/IT Lead to understand requirements and create technical designs.
  • Analyze source tables and relationships, ensuring consistent coding and SVN standards.
  • Provide daily status updates on project progress.
  • Collaborate with Commissions analysts to understand existing calculations and build, test, and UAT accordingly.
  • Utilize Oracle Analytical functions, MERGE statements, and other advanced PL/SQL features.
  • Optimize code following performance tuning techniques and established coding standards.
  • Create and test Unix scripts for report transfers using sFTP.
  • Perform unit testing and end-to-end system testing of applications.
  • Prepare reports for UAT submission and identify discrepancies with production reports.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve problems using analytical skills.
  • Maintain database object scripts/source code using SVN.
  • Conduct code reviews with IT lead before moving to QA environment.
  • Create ControlM/Redwood job documents and manage change requests.
  • Use ServiceNow for ticketing and change request management.
  • Follow SOX procedures for code deployment.
  • Provide production support and monitor batch processes to resolve job failures.
  • Work with ControlM/Redwood group on re-run/re-start instructions.
  • Fulfill ad-hoc requests for data pulls and minor enhancements.
  • Develop strong working relationships with team members and other IT groups.
  • Independently manage tasks without step-by-step supervision.
  • Communicate progress or issues clearly and escalate delays impacting deadlines.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or relevant business discipline.
  • 15+ years of experience in software development.
  • 12+ years of strong development experience using Oracle PL/SQL.
  • Experience with Oracle features like Analytical functions, merge statements, and partitioning.
  • 12+ years of experience in Oracle 12c or 19c.
  • 5+ years of experience in a Data Warehouse environment.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
