About the position

The Oracle PL/SQL Developer role involves designing, developing, testing, maintaining, and supporting batch applications using Oracle PL/SQL specifically for Retail Commissions and Amortization. The position requires collaboration with various teams to understand requirements, optimize code, and ensure the successful deployment of applications while adhering to coding standards and SOX procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Develop Oracle PL/SQL applications.
  • Create Oracle PL/SQL packages, stored procedures, and functions.
  • Create database objects like tables, views, triggers, types, synonyms based on requirements.
  • Create new applications or enhance existing applications to produce commissions reports.
  • Work with Manager/IT Lead to understand requirements and create technical designs.
  • Analyze source tables and relationships, adhering to consistent coding/SVN standards.
  • Provide daily status updates on project progress.
  • Collaborate with the Commissions analyst to understand existing calculations and build, test, and UAT accordingly.
  • Utilize Oracle Analytical functions, MERGE statements, WITH clause, Partitioning, Job logging, File handling, External tables, and Exception handling in PL/SQL code.
  • Optimize code following performance tuning techniques and established coding standards.
  • Create and test Unix scripts for report transfers from Unix server to Windows share using sFTP server.
  • Perform Unit testing and end-to-end System testing of Oracle PL/SQL applications.
  • Test and compare reports to Production calc. reports and identify discrepancies before UAT submission.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve problems quickly using analytical skills.
  • Maintain all database object scripts/source code using SVN and follow versioning standards.
  • Conduct code reviews with IT lead prior to moving code to QA environment.
  • Create ControlM/Redwood job documents and manage Change requests.
  • Utilize ServiceNow for ticketing and change requests.
  • Follow SOX procedures for code deployment.
  • Provide production support and monitor batch processes to resolve job failures promptly.
  • Collaborate with ControlM/Redwood group on re-run/re-start instructions.
  • Fulfill ad-hoc requests for data pulls, table updates, or minor enhancements.
  • Work effectively in a team environment and develop strong working relationships with team members and other IT groups.
  • Independently manage tasks without step-by-step supervision and communicate progress or issues clearly.
  • Escalate issues or delays impacting deadlines as early as possible.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or relevant business discipline from an accredited four-year college or university.
  • 15+ years of experience in Software development.
  • 12+ years of strong development experience using Oracle PL/SQL, including features like Analytical functions, merge statements, WITH clause, oracle partitioning, job logging, exception handling, and performance tuning.
  • 12+ years of experience in Oracle 12c or 19c.
  • 5+ years of experience in a Data Warehouse environment.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team.
