About the position

The Chief Operating Officer (COO) at Centene is responsible for overseeing operations across multiple support functions, including claims support services, provider relations, and call center operations. This executive role involves acting as the chief liaison between the business unit and corporate policies, developing operational strategies, and ensuring the implementation of cost-effective and client-responsive programs. The COO will also focus on achieving financial targets, enhancing operational efficiencies, and overseeing new system implementations.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee operations for multiple support functions including configuration, claims support services, provider relations, call center, and field operations.
  • Act as the chief liaison between the business unit and corporate policies & standards.
  • Develop operational vision, objectives, policies, and procedures to support the overall strategic plan for the business unit.
  • Ensure the development and maintenance of cost-effective, client-responsive programs, identifying improvement opportunities and overseeing their implementation.
  • Identify operational efficiencies and ensure compliance with regulatory and client expectations, developing a best practice approach for all operations.
  • Achieve business unit financial targets based on service level, state, compliance, and contractual agreements.
  • Oversee new system and product implementations for assigned areas.
  • Assess organizational strengths and weaknesses to recommend an enhanced operating model.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or related field.
  • 10+ years of operations, administration, and management experience in the healthcare or insurance industry.
  • Master's degree preferred.
