About the position

The Plan Document Writer will support the Marketing Team by creating and managing medical plan documents, summaries of benefits and coverage (SBCs), and ensuring compliance with relevant laws. This hybrid position requires collaboration with internal and external partners to interpret benefits and provide timely documentation to users.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluates and provides feedback on plan and benefit design.
  • Participates and engages in discussions with internal and external partners related to benefit interpretation.
  • Researches plan provisions contained in benefit plan documents, clarifying ambiguities in plan language and provisions.
  • Provides timely documentation to users to help them reference and understand plan changes.
  • Maintains design specifications through documentation and revisions, including creating renewal business plan amendments.
  • Consults with internal compliance experts and reviews client plan contracts, SPDs, and SMMs to ensure compliance with Federal and State law.
  • Evaluates the impact of client-requested exceptions and develops reasonable alternatives to satisfy client needs while minimizing the impact on systems and operations.
  • Provides excellent teamwork and project management duties as required.
  • Performs any other duties assigned.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Insurance industry and benefit experience preferred.
  • Knowledge and experience in medical, dental, disability, and vision benefits preferred.
  • Knowledge of major medical benefit application preferred.
  • Knowledge and experience in medical terminology preferred.
  • General understanding of compliance and regulatory issues (ERISA, HIPAA, ACA, COBRA).
  • Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing.
  • Computer proficiency in Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and ability to learn internal systems.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to take on special tasks and projects.
  • High attention to detail, excellent analytical, writing, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to identify priorities and organize time efficiently to ensure tasks are completed to meet or exceed deadlines.
  • Ability to attend company, department, and team meetings as required, including industry training sessions.
  • Legally able to work in the United States.
