About the position

The Planner II position at the Prince George's County Planning Department involves applying land use planning, zoning, and subdivision knowledge to support the development review process. The role requires strong analytical and communication skills, project management experience, and the ability to work collaboratively in a diverse environment. The Planner II will conduct site inspections, produce staff reports, and present findings to various governing bodies, contributing to the physical development of the county.

Responsibilities

• Conducts site inspections
• Applies various regulations while conducting plan reviews
• Produces staff reports
• Assists with interpretations of Subdivision Regulations
• Conducts presentations before the Planning Board, District Council, and Zoning Hearing Examiner
• Responds to public inquiries within the required timeframe
• Participates in interdisciplinary planning teams

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Planning, Geography, Architecture, Parks and Recreation, Transportation, Urban Design, Engineering, Environmental Science, Public Policy, Economics or any related field
• Two (2) years of progressively responsible professional level planning experience or specific area of assignment such as transportation planning, environmental planning or urban planning
• Valid driver's license in accordance with both State and Commission rules and regulations
