About the position

The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) is seeking motivated individuals for the Planner II, III, or IV positions within the Transportation Planning and Programming Division (TPP) in Austin, TX. This role involves supporting and developing statewide planning initiatives, contributing to significant projects such as the Statewide Long-range Transportation Plan and the Statewide Transportation Resilience Plan. The position requires collaboration with various stakeholders, conducting research, and presenting findings on transportation planning projects.

Responsibilities

  • Support planning studies and document findings on transportation planning projects.
  • Research current transportation planning topics at local, state, and federal levels.
  • Evaluate planning processes and technical solutions to meet Division needs.
  • Support public outreach activities and coordinate with project team members.
  • Collaborate with other TxDOT Divisions on various projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Transportation Planning, Urban Planning, Business Administration, or related field.
  • 2-4 years of relevant experience depending on the level (Planner II, III, or IV).
  • Valid driver's license.

Nice-to-haves

  • AICP Certification or ability to obtain within two years.
  • Experience with federal funding programs.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and SharePoint.
