About the position

The Maintenance Planner II at Freeport-McMoRan plays a crucial role in the Maintenance organization by planning, scheduling, and analyzing maintenance activities to enhance equipment availability and reduce maintenance costs. This position involves collaborating with site supervisors, managing work orders, and ensuring the integrity of information management systems. The Planner II also mentors junior planners and supports supervisors in job preparation and execution, contributing to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of maintenance operations.

Responsibilities

  • Identify, collect, organize, and document work order job steps with operations.
  • Plan, schedule, and analyze execution to resolve issues effectively.
  • Manage and maintain the integrity of information management systems (SAP).
  • Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly planning meetings with stakeholders.
  • Review, prioritize, and schedule work orders.
  • Execute the 'Runtime Forecasting' process in the assigned area.
  • Provide guidance and mentor Planner I personnel in planning and scheduling techniques.
  • Support area Supervisor in job preparation, execution, and follow-up.
  • Develop, monitor, and adjust schedules for assigned activities.
  • Collaborate with other Planners and supervisors for long-range planning and scheduling.
  • Manage and maintain information integrity in the management system (SAP).
  • Engage with Global Supply Chain to control warehouse levels and storage conditions.
  • Prepare scopes of work for internal and external jobs.
  • Initiate requests for parts and materials.
  • Assist with maintenance management decisions, including departmental budgets and forecasting.
  • Generate regular and ad hoc reports for site management.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED and six (6) years specific experience in field maintenance in mining/mfg or industrial operations.
  • High School diploma or GED and six (6) years related field maintenance experience including four (4) years of specific Planning experience.
  • Associates in a technical field and four (4) years related experience in field maintenance.
  • Bachelor's degree in technical field and two (2) years related experience in field maintenance.
  • Understanding of concepts and workflow of Maintenance Planning/Scheduling.
  • Understanding of mining and/or processing equipment function.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of maintenance management systems and associated applications.
  • Demonstrated professional/effective written and oral communications skills.
