About the position

The Materials Planner will play a crucial role in the manufacturing and production process by reviewing and releasing work orders to support the master schedule. This position is responsible for ensuring a smooth material supply and flow, which involves close collaboration with buyers, manufacturing personnel, and quality assurance teams. The Materials Planner will work closely with the Master Scheduler, expeditor, and customer service teams to achieve on-time performance goals, which are essential for maintaining production efficiency and meeting customer commitments. In this role, the Materials Planner will be tasked with releasing work orders in accordance with the master schedule, ensuring that production lines are adequately loaded as per the Master Scheduler's requirements. They will work with buyers to expedite any shortages that may impact commitment dates and coordinate with production teams to ensure that work-in-progress (WIP) items are scheduled to align with the master schedule. Additionally, the planner will expedite operations that may cause delays in schedules and set Kanban stocking levels for raw and WIP parts on the production line to enhance supply chain execution. The Materials Planner will also assist the Master Scheduler in reviewing specific sales forecasts, which will be communicated to buyers and manufacturing teams. This role requires interaction with department supervisors and team leaders to determine the status of assigned projects and will involve communication with all levels of plant and corporate personnel. The planner may also be required to perform other duties as assigned and work overtime as necessary to meet production demands.

Responsibilities

  • Release work orders in accordance to master schedule
  • Keep production lines loaded according to Master Scheduler's requirements
  • Work with buyers to ensure shortages are being expedited to support commitment dates
  • Work with production to ensure WIP items are scheduled to meet master schedule
  • Expedite operations that delay schedules
  • Set Kanban stocking levels for raw and WIP parts on the line to speed up supply chain execution
  • Assist Master Scheduler with reviewing specific sales forecasts for communication to buyers and manufacturing
  • Interact with department supervisors/team leaders to determine status of assigned projects
  • Interact with all levels of plant and corporate personnel
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Work overtime as required

Requirements

  • Associates Degree in Business Administration or other related field OR 2+ years job related manufacturing planning experience
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office applications
  • Knowledge of Material Requirements Planning Systems (Oracle, SAP, etc)
  • Experience working with bills of materials

Nice-to-haves
