About the position

The Merchandise Planner is responsible for managing inventory levels to support sales and corporate initiatives while achieving financial goals. This role requires collaboration with merchants and internal teams to balance opportunities and investments effectively. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the Open to Buy for designated categories, allocating spend to drive sales and customer growth.
  • Maintain appropriate in-stock positions and inventory across designated categories.
  • Own receipts forecasts for accurate replenishment and adjust to support trends and business needs.
  • Balance owned brands vs. third-party inventory levels based on promotional activity and category strategies.
  • Communicate observed trends, risks, opportunities, and recommend actions.
  • Synthesize large amounts of raw data and provide findings to cross-functional partners.
  • Collaborate with partners on new item launches and category refreshes.
  • Issue and manage purchase orders.
  • Develop and issue reporting and initiative tracking scorecards.
  • Build partnerships with teams such as Merchandising, Analytics, Pricing & Promotions, Supply Chain, and Finance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Supply Chain Management, or equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years of professional experience in a related field.
  • Strong working knowledge of Excel.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Outstanding organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to influence business partners and drive results.
  • Demonstrate ownership and accountability for tasks and projects.

Nice-to-haves

  • Working knowledge of SQL is a plus.
  • Experience with RELEX or other planning applications is preferred.
