Responsibilities

  • Lead coordination and implementation of public engagement efforts to gather input from the community.
  • Refine and implement DRCOG's strategic engagement plan.
  • Advise on tactics, activities, tools, and media for effective community input.
  • Organize and promote events and public meetings in collaboration with communications specialists.
  • Coordinate and host the Civic Academy to educate and empower community members.
  • Respond to inquiries from the public and stakeholders, addressing issues and providing recommendations.
  • Plan and coordinate communication activities and event logistics.
  • Develop and maintain marketing materials, including brochures and digital content.
  • Research industry standards and make recommendations for improvements.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of community engagement initiatives and report on measurable goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, planning, English, or a related field.
  • 1-3 years of related communications and/or public relations experience.
  • Strong organizational and people skills.
  • Proficiency with digital accessibility and remote meeting techniques.
  • Knowledge of urban and regional planning principles.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with social media and digital engagement platforms.
  • Familiarity with qualitative and quantitative research methods.
  • Ability to coach and lead the work of others.
