About the position

The Planner Scheduler is responsible for establishing and maintaining the master production schedule while communicating the status of stock builds and customer orders for all products. This role involves evaluating inputs from various departments to effectively utilize resources and meet customer delivery requirements, ensuring targeted finished goods inventory levels are maintained. The position is based on-site in Michigan City, Indiana, and reports to the Sr Manager, Business Planning.

Responsibilities

  • Review sales orders and assign promise dates based on forecasts, production capacity, and material availability.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Procurement, and Operations to align Engineered To Order Requirements for customers.
  • Communicate shortages through a ‘Shortage Report' and modify production schedules to minimize impacts on customers and productivity.
  • Daily release of work orders to Operations.
  • Initiate deviations and make necessary work order adjustments in JDE.
  • Manage excess and obsolete inventory, identifying viable options to minimize inventory costs.
  • Work directly with employees to resolve scheduling issues.
  • Reconcile inaccuracies with customer shipments and deliveries.
  • Support safety awareness and ergonomic initiatives.

Requirements

  • Associate degree or minimum of two years post high school training/experience; Bachelor's degree in business management or related discipline preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of manufacturing experience with scheduling, inventory control, or operations responsibility.
  • Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles related to scheduling and inventory control.
  • APICS Certified Supply Chain Professional preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of MRP, Work Order Management, and production control within an ERP-driven environment; JDE experience preferred.
  • Efficient in project management and capable of managing risk in a cross-functional organization.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively at all organizational levels.
  • Organized and efficient, able to prioritize in a demanding environment.
