Responsibilities

  • Review building permits for zoning compliance.
  • Customer service interactions to help customers understand applicable regulations and navigate the development process.
  • Review other permits for zoning compliance.
  • Involvement in cross-department projects as time allows.
  • Coordination with other departmental staff.
  • Use of computer applications and permitting software.
  • Researching issues and resolving questions with the appropriate team members.
  • Updating databases, documenting comments, and communicating to customers throughout the review process.
  • Perform other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in planning, landscape architecture, geography, architecture, engineering, forestry, horticulture, arboriculture, landscape architecture, or urban forestry or a directly related field or equivalent experience.
  • Two years of professional planning or related experience.
  • Fluency in Spanish.
  • Ability to interpret plat maps, plot plans, land surveys, or similar maps and drawings.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in planning, engineering, or a directly related field is preferred.
  • AICP certified, or interest in obtaining AICP certification.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and web-based GIS mapping and analysis software.

  • Hiring Range: $65,749 - $78,898
  • Regular, full-time position
  • Work hours: 8:00am - 5:00pm, Monday - Friday
