About the position

CPP- Bloomington, MN is seeking an experienced Planning and Logistics Manager to lead our production planning, logistics, shipping, and export control functions. This role is pivotal in ensuring that our operations run smoothly and efficiently, with a focus on customer satisfaction and operational excellence. The Planning and Logistics Manager will be responsible for preparing weekly and monthly production planning reports, detailing customer orders, and forecasting demand to align with our production capabilities. This position offers a flexible onsite schedule and a comprehensive benefits package, including a robust PTO plan, 401K, and quarterly bonus potential. As the primary point of escalation for customer concerns related to delivery, you will develop and implement effective solutions to address these issues. Collaboration with internal teams such as sales, production, quality, and engineering is essential to ensure swift resolution of customer concerns and to prevent future escalations. You will communicate effectively with customers, providing clear updates and keeping them informed throughout the resolution process. In addition to customer interaction, you will provide strategic direction, coaching, and performance management to the Production Control Manager, Project Manager, and Shipping Supervisor. Your leadership will involve delegating tasks and responsibilities effectively, ensuring clear communication and accountability within the team. You will also monitor outside processing of production castings to ensure adherence to schedules and keep customers informed about any changes to scheduled due dates. Your role will include developing and maintaining work-in-progress (WIP) inventory and scheduling reports to define the weekly manufacturing plan. You will communicate with operations to ensure that manufacturing priorities align with customer needs and commitments, develop production schedules considering inventory and labor availability, and prepare detailed reports on customer orders and demand forecasts. Additionally, you will coordinate with subcontractors and the purchasing function to ensure the availability of raw materials, and you will be responsible for acquiring additional certifications and credentials as required for your work or career development.

Responsibilities

  • Primary point of escalation for customer concerns related to delivery
  • Develop and implement solutions to address customer delivery concerns
  • Work collaboratively with internal teams (e.g., sales, production, quality, engineering) to ensure swift resolution and prevent future escalations
  • Communicate effectively with customers, providing clear updates and keeping them informed throughout the resolution process
  • Provide strategic direction, coaching, and performance management to the Production Control Manager, Project Manager and Shipping Supervisor
  • Delegate tasks and responsibilities effectively, ensuring clear communication and accountability
  • Identify and address performance concerns, implementing corrective action plans as needed
  • Oversee and direct team members responsible for monitoring outside processing of production castings to ensure adherence to schedule
  • Ensure the customer is informed about changes to the scheduled due dates
  • Develop and maintain WIP inventory and scheduling reports to define the weekly manufacturing plan
  • Communicate with Operations to ensure priorities in manufacturing align with customer needs & commitments
  • Develop production schedules, taking into account inventory and labor availability and production lead times
  • Prepare weekly and monthly reports detailing customer orders in production schedule & demand forecasts for planning activities
  • Prepare daily WIP inventory, and downstream production scheduling reports
  • Create and review sales forecasts and demands for finished or intermediary goods
  • Follow up with and respond to inquiries related to outsourced casting manufacturing or processing
  • Plan, monitor, and drive adherence to a production schedule that meets the plants financial goals and strives to satisfy the demands of our customers
  • Communicate directly with subcontractors and expedite purchase orders as needed
  • Coordinate with the purchasing function to ensure availability of raw materials
  • Acquire additional certifications and credentials as required for work or career development

Requirements

  • Bachelors' Degree in Logistics or related field required
  • 5+ years of previous experience in logistics planning and successful management of logistics team in a complex manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite with experience in MS Office Suite, ERP systems experience
  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the US on a permanent and consistent basis without company sponsorship now and in the future
  • Must be a U.S. person as defined by ITAR regulations
