About the position

The Planning Associate at the University of Oregon plays a crucial role in providing facilities planning services related to campus development. This position is responsible for overseeing the Campus Plan, managing planning projects, and ensuring effective communication among various stakeholders involved in campus planning and design. The Planning Associate will also contribute to the creation and maintenance of planning documents and policies, while advocating for design elements that align with the university's mission.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the maintenance and implementation of the Campus Plan.
  • Staff the Campus Planning Committee and facilitate its activities.
  • Prepare detailed sub-plans of the Campus Plan.
  • Manage site selection processes for proposed capital projects.
  • Serve as the Campus Planning representative on capital projects, providing guidance on planning and site design.
  • Complete feasibility studies for potential projects.
  • Develop periodic diagnostic studies of campus areas, analyzing their physical characteristics and health.
  • Create and update planning-related documents and manage planning projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Planning, Public Administration, or a related field.
  • One year of professional experience in architectural or landscape design, planning, and design issues involving public processes.
  • Demonstrated competence in architectural and/or landscape design and planning document creation.
  • Ability to assemble, organize, and present information in written and graphic forms.
  • Strong communication skills, both orally and in writing, with diverse groups.
  • Strong organizational, time management, and project management skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience or education related to university planning policy issues and processes.
  • Experience or education in planning policy issues related to the University of Oregon.
