About the position

The Planning/Buyer Senior Specialist at Hexagon's Manufacturing Intelligence division is responsible for managing all planning and execution tasks necessary to support business units. This role involves purchasing materials, supplies, and services at favorable terms, handling vendor qualifications, evaluating bids, negotiating prices, and maintaining vendor databases. The specialist also manages inventory levels, processes new purchase orders, and implements enhancements to streamline replenishment functions.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all planning and execution tasks necessary to support business units.
  • Purchase materials, supplies, and services at the most favorable terms for the organization.
  • Handle qualifications of major vendors, evaluate bids, and negotiate prices and terms for purchased goods and services.
  • Track purchases, monitor vendor quality, and maintain a current database of vendor information.
  • Manage inventory levels ensuring they are properly maintained for the organization.
  • Work with the master schedule to determine order quantities and process new purchase orders.
  • Assist with inventory control management activities including implementing process enhancements to streamline replenishment functions.
  • Support all procurement activities with emphasis on moderately complex aspects of purchases.
  • Manage major Supplier activities, including quoting components and programs, supplier visits, and assisting in engineering activities.
  • Manage schedules, expedite and de-expedite orders, advising relevant individuals/departments with delays and lead-times on critical materials or products.
  • Manage Vendor Management Data, ensuring Supplier quotes are current with pricing and lead-time.
  • Assist with major Supplier contracts, ensuring periodic review of all Supplier programs.
  • Initiate supplier corrective actions where appropriate and monitor to ensure all ARs are closed in a timely manner.
  • Manage the coordination and implementation of the ECN process with Suppliers through completion.
  • Liaise between Production, Quality, Engineering, Materials, and Supplier providing necessary documents.
  • Assist with updating process and procedure documents as requested.
  • Mentor less experienced Planner/Buyers through advice, coaching, and training opportunities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Logistics or related discipline or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • 4-7 years of related experience.
  • ASCM (APICS) class work desirable.
  • Excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to organize a daily workload by priorities.
  • Procurement experience in Manufacturing, preferably in an engineered to order environment.
  • Experience in the development and negotiation of supplier agreement contracts.
  • Proficient in MS Office suite.
  • Knowledge of ERP systems.
