About the position

The Planning & Economic Program Manager at Port Houston is responsible for providing technical and economic analysis, project management, and supporting capital investment plans. This role involves managing a portfolio of projects, applying Front-End-Loading principles, and collaborating with various teams to deliver impactful initiatives that shape the region. The position requires strong leadership, problem-solving skills, and the ability to facilitate organizational improvements while ensuring alignment with business goals.

Responsibilities

• Manage and execute a wide range of projects using efficient methodologies and strong organizational skills.
• Prioritize workload in alignment with business goals and strategic objectives.
• Provide subject matter expertise in at least one technical or functional discipline such as Engineering, Telecommunications, or Environmental Science.
• Apply efficient problem-solving methodologies across a portfolio of challenges.
• Conduct business and technical research as needed.
• Connect multiple perspectives to solve complex issues and advise cross-functional teams.
• Develop action plans to achieve goals and monitor performance measures.
• Make high-quality presentations to stakeholders regarding project status and objectives.
• Act as a champion for organization-wide knowledge management and stewardship of resources.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Science, Math, or related areas from an accredited institution required.
• Master's degree in technical domains and/or business degree preferred.
• 5+ years of experience required, 8+ preferred in ports and related projects.
• PMP or related project leadership credential preferred.
• Knowledge of consulting practices and ability to treat internal stakeholders as clients.
