Responsibilities

  • Plan daily news coverage and special events.
  • Manage schedules for daily and long-term news coverage.
  • Stay updated on government and community agendas to follow ongoing stories.
  • Write and edit news stories as needed.
  • Collaborate with newsroom managers and executive producers on major stories.
  • Work with reporters to create and plan future stories.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience in a television newsroom.
  • 3+ years of previous experience as an Assignment Editor.
  • Bachelor's degree in Broadcast Communication or comparable television work experience preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to clearly communicate solutions and relate well with diverse populations.
  • Ability to develop sources and manage multiple priorities under time pressure.
  • May be required to lift up to 5 pounds.
