About the position

The Planning Senior Supply Chain Manager for Supply Strategy and Optimization at Amazon is a pivotal role within the Amazon Transportation Services Supply Strategy and Optimization Management (SS&O) team. This position is designed for individuals who are eager to engage with the complexities of the U.S. largest e-commerce retailer's transportation business. The SS&O team is tasked with determining the optimal amount, placement, and type of supply necessary for the Amazon Middle Mile (NA) network, ensuring the lowest cost network for the future. This role requires collaboration with various stakeholders, including research scientists, data scientists, software teams, analysts, and program managers, to create a comprehensive plan of record, manage variability risks, and improve tools and analytic approaches. As a Senior Supply Chain Manager, you will have the opportunity to influence and drive organization-level decisions. You will lead a team responsible for strategic long-term planning, tactical execution, and cross-functional projects within Amazon Transportation Services. The role demands strong analytical skills, proven project management experience, and the ability to deliver results across various levels of leadership in a complex and ambiguous environment. Key responsibilities include analyzing industry trends, managing network-level demand execution plans, driving optimization initiatives, and overseeing complex cross-functional programs. You will work autonomously to understand business problems, identify risks, and communicate the impact of critical business initiatives to senior leadership. This position also involves developing and governing KPI reporting for a portfolio of programs, ensuring visibility into milestones and performance across all projects. The role is based in one of several locations, including Seattle/Bellevue, WA; Atlanta, GA; Arlington, VA; or Nashville, TN, with relocation required for candidates.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with key internal and external stakeholders to determine the optimal network level demand execution plan.
  • Analyze industry trends and network level performance to identify demand execution plan variation opportunities.
  • Manage network level demand execution plan and allocation to ensure optimal on-time customer delivery.
  • Drive demand execution plan optimization initiatives to lower liquidity risks and improve customer delivery.
  • Influence supply team stakeholders' processes and technology decisions for continuous improvement.
  • Manage the full lifecycle of complex cross-functional programs with significant impact.
  • Define program objectives, analyze data, and drive improvements quantified with metrics.
  • Work autonomously in an ambiguous environment to understand business problems and automation limitations.
  • Partner weekly with teams to source, allocate, and coordinate resources for quarterly goals.
  • Oversee gaps between teams and processes to reduce exposure to failure modes.
  • Solve ambiguous problems and proactively identify and mitigate risks.
  • Communicate the impact of critical business initiatives to program managers and executive teams.
  • Develop, implement, and govern KPI reporting for a portfolio of programs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 3+ years of data analysis experience
  • 5+ years of program or project management experience
  • Experience using data and metrics to drive improvements
  • Experience owning program strategy and communicating results to senior leadership
  • Experience in complex problem solving in a tight schedule environment
  • Experience working cross-functionally with tech and non-tech teams
  • Intermediate knowledge of Excel (e.g., pivot tables, nested logical/IF formulas)
  • Familiarity with SQL and building queries
