About the position

The Plans and Operations Analyst position at Valiant Integrated Services is a part-time on-call role designed to provide Subject Matter Expertise (SME) in support of Joint Force Development (JFD) customer requirements. The analyst will work closely with various divisions of the Joint Staff (JS) J7, specifically the Deputy Director Joint Training (DDJT), which includes the Joint Exercise Division (JExD), Deployable Training Division (DTD), Plans and Operations Division (POD), and the Service Joint Training Division (SJTD). The primary location for this position is Suffolk, Virginia. In this role, the analyst will be responsible for delivering expert support during limited time frames, ensuring that the needs of the Joint Staff are met effectively. The position requires a deep understanding of military operations, exercise planning, and the ability to work collaboratively with military and civilian personnel. The analyst will engage in various planning activities, including deliberate and rapid military planning, exercise design, and operational environment planning, among others. This role is critical in ensuring that military training and exercises are conducted efficiently and effectively, contributing to the overall readiness of the Joint Forces. Candidates must possess a strong background in military operations, with experience in Joint/Service Doctrine, exercise control group operations, and scenario planning. The ability to conduct quantitative and qualitative analysis, risk mitigation, and lessons learned development is essential. The analyst will also be expected to prepare and present white papers, briefings, and classroom instruction, utilizing Microsoft Office applications for effective communication and documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Provide Subject Matter Expertise (SME) in support of Joint Force Development (JFD) customer requirements.
  • Support various divisions of the Joint Staff (JS) J7, including the Joint Exercise Division (JExD) and Deployable Training Division (DTD).
  • Engage in military training planning and execution for service or joint/combined organizations.
  • Conduct exercise design and operational environment planning.
  • Prepare and present white papers, briefings, and classroom instruction.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. citizen and eligible for a U.S. passport.
  • Possess a secret clearance (minimum) and meet TS/SCI eligibility requirements.
  • Minimum of 4 years' experience as a commissioned officer, noncommissioned officer, or DoD civilian equivalent.
  • At least 2 years' experience in planning and conducting military training for a service or joint/combined organization.
  • Skilled in all aspects of communications for the preparation and presentation of materials.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Joint/Service Doctrine.
  • Familiarity with Models and Simulation (M&S) operations.
  • Knowledge of risk mitigation strategies and After Action Review (AAR) development.
