About the position

The position involves supporting accounting and business policies necessary for closing the books and supporting the business unit at Sonoco. The role includes responsibilities such as monthly closing of assigned plants, preparing balance sheet reconciliations, and maintaining various financial processes and reports. The position is integral to ensuring the accuracy and completeness of financial statements while promoting strong internal controls.

Responsibilities

• Monthly general ledger close and support for assigned plants
• Detect and correct obvious errors during the closing process
• Review monthly operating statements and balance sheets for reasonableness
• Ensure that financial statements are complete and accurate
• Support and maintain various division and business unit financial processes
• Calculate commissions
• Prepare balance sheet reconciliations, as assigned
• Prepare and maintain various reports, as assigned
• Maintain effective communication with plant personnel
• Provide high quality and professional customer service to both internal and external customers
• Stay up to date with accounting concepts, practices and procedures
• Participate in internal peer audits
• Promote strong internal controls

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration preferred
• 3+ years of related experience preferred
