About the position

The Plant Associate Lead at Stericycle is responsible for overseeing the unloading and processing of waste materials in a safe and efficient manner. This role involves providing direction and training to lower-level plant workers, ensuring compliance with health and safety standards, and maintaining a clean and organized work environment. The position is crucial for the proper staging and scanning of waste materials, contributing to Stericycle's mission of protecting health and well-being.

Responsibilities

  • Unload waste from incoming vehicles.
  • Separate non-autoclavable waste to be incinerated.
  • Stage waste on conveyor system or properly stack waste for scanning in the Biotrack system.
  • Scan waste into the Biotrack system for proper recordkeeping purposes.
  • Load autoclave bins or incinerator hopper with waste for processing.
  • Place re-usable containers on tub wash line for decontamination.
  • Operate tub wash unit ensuring the wash unit is operating properly.
  • Remove clean tubs from wash unit, inspect tubs and stack for loading onto assigned vehicle for re-use.
  • Operate tub wash sprayer for oversized reusable tubs ensuring the unit is operating properly.
  • Decontaminate vehicles' cargo-carrying portion, reload assigned re-usable tubs, and ensure cargo-carrying portion of vehicle does not have free liquid on the floor.
  • Inform plant supervisor when the vehicle is ready to be moved from dock area.
  • Address housekeeping issues immediately, such as spills and debris on the floor.
  • Provide work direction and advice to lower level Plant Workers on a regular basis.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience, preferably in a plant working environment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and understand health and safety directives.
