About the position

The Plant Controller will lead the finance team at the beverage production plant in Grand Rapids, MI, fostering a culture of inclusion, empowerment, and personal growth. This role involves engaging with the leadership team to understand financial results, driving action, influencing decisions, and simplifying financial processes. The Plant Controller will ensure the integrity of financial reporting through strong internal controls and appropriate measurements.

Responsibilities

  • Actively participate as a member of the site leadership team to create a culture of growth and impact via a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Improve the performance of the site finance team while seeking opportunities for team members to develop their knowledge and skills.
  • Provide financial and operational measurement and analyses to local and corporate leaders, identifying opportunities for improvement and providing business insight.
  • Communicate results to all site partners, ensuring they understand how their actions affect results.
  • Establish systems, processes, and procedures for collecting and recording data required for internal and external financial reporting.
  • Oversee monthly close activities and ensure compliance with company policies and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Maintain accurate balance sheet accounts and determine appropriate accruals.
  • Serve as the contact person for external auditors.
  • Develop and maintain accurate product costs in accordance with company costing policies, including cost estimates and analyses for new products.
  • Lead the financial and capital budgeting and spending measurement processes for the manufacturing location.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in a finance leadership role, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting standards (GAAP).
  • Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with various stakeholders.
  • Ability to develop and implement internal controls and financial processes.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with ERP systems and financial software.
  • Knowledge of cost accounting and product costing methodologies.
  • Familiarity with continuous improvement methodologies such as Lean or Six Sigma.
