About the position

The Plant Controller will oversee all accounting functions within the organization, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and General Ledger maintenance. This role is crucial for preparing financial statements and developing budgets, while also providing essential support to plant management through financial reporting and analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage all accounting functions, including Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable
  • Maintain the General Ledger accurately and efficiently
  • Prepare financial statements in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and company policies
  • Conduct variance analysis and present actual results to senior management
  • Oversee the processing of payroll and all related activities
  • Conduct weekly/monthly bank account reconciliation
  • Develop the annual budget with input from operations and participate in budget review meetings
  • Manage commercial issues in coordination with appropriate personnel
  • Maintain the accuracy and currency of the customer pricing database
  • Handle full responsibility for the plant's Income Statement and Balance Sheet, including reconciliations, review, and variance analysis
  • Provide financial statements, review weekly operational metrics, and conduct variance analysis to support local plant management
  • Participate in the review of plant income statement forecasting and communicate recommendations to senior management
  • Mentor and manage direct reports effectively
  • Coordinate the implementation and maintenance of the MRP system
  • Make recommendations regarding the accounting of reserves, assets, and expenditures
  • Prepare capital purchase approvals and verify savings on cost reduction projects.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in Accounting Functions
  • Experience with Accounts Payable (AP)
  • Familiarity with Annual Budget preparation and execution
  • Knowledge and experience in Auditing
  • Understanding of Budget Processes
  • Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks efficiently
  • Demonstrated leadership and decision-making abilities
  • Relevant certification or degree in Finance or Accounting is preferred
  • Prior experience in a similar role is advantageous.
