About the position

As the Plant Controller at Emerson, you will serve as the finance leader for the Orange, VA facility, playing a crucial role in the plant leadership team. This position involves managing the local general ledger, preparing financial statements, and ensuring compliance with US GAAP. You will also be responsible for developing budgets, analyzing operational results, and providing financial insights to support decision-making within the plant.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the local general ledger through the monthly close process and account reconciliations.
  • Prepare, review, and analyze financial statements while maintaining compliance with US GAAP.
  • Develop and maintain plant department budgets and financial forecasts, analyzing operational results against forecasts.
  • Assist plant leadership in understanding data and performance metrics, providing actionable decision support analysis.
  • Manage, direct, lead, and develop one Cost Accountant.
  • Oversee the product costing process, including the annual standard cost build and developing labor and burden rates.
  • Implement financial systems and policies as required by Emerson and/or Professional Tools management.
  • Investigate and assist in the development and justification of capital investments.
  • Participate in cost reduction and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Protect company assets through the development of internal controls and involvement in financial functions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • Minimum of 5 years related experience in a manufacturing finance function.
  • Knowledge of balance sheets, P&L's, and other financial statements for required financial analysis.
  • Experience with ERP systems.
  • Excellent communication skills to convey financial information to senior management.
  • Strong business discernment, critical thinking, and analytical skills.
  • Self-confidence and ability to present positions in difficult situations.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States.
