About the position

The Plant Controller at Arrow International is responsible for providing accounting support to the operations of the business, focusing on cost accounting and financial management. This role involves overseeing standard cost accounting, inventory valuation, and variance analysis, while also contributing to the automation of costing systems and the preparation of financial statements. The position requires collaboration with various teams to ensure accurate financial reporting and effective cost management.

Responsibilities

  • Overall responsibility of standard cost accounting and inventory valuation.
  • Conduct monthly variance analysis for Material, Labor, and Overhead, and assess product line profitability.
  • Engineer and develop new product standard costing.
  • Lead annual review and refresh of standard costs.
  • Facilitate weekly/monthly meetings with the Plant Manager to discuss variances and Production KPIs.
  • Analyze and reconcile inventory transactions for accuracy and completeness in support of monthly financial reporting.
  • Calculate inventory reserve monthly based on aging inventory.
  • Collaborate with supply chain to develop metrics and KPIs influencing financial performance.
  • Review work order variances with the production team.
  • Assist in the annual budgeting process.
  • Support month-end close journal entries of the general ledger.
  • Oversee the physical inventory program, including monitoring and reporting results of cycle and full counts.
  • Perform special projects and analysis as needed.
  • Analyze costs of materials, processes, and labor to identify opportunities for cost reduction.
  • Develop and update accounting and operational process documentation around inventory management and costing processes.

Requirements

  • BA or BS in Accounting or Finance.
  • 5-8+ years of cost accounting experience required.
  • Extensive experience in a manufacturing/plant environment, including production routing and bill of materials.
  • Ability to perform comfortably in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented work environment.
  • Strong Excel skills, especially in advanced financial modeling and analytical techniques.
  • Excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work as a team member and independently.
  • Excellent analytical skills with a strong focus on accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Manage direct staff, including scheduling, planning, assigning, and directing work, as well as identifying and resolving problems.
