About the position

The Plant Controller at Shiloh Industries, Inc. is responsible for overseeing the financial processes of the plant, including budget forecasting, month-end reporting, and compliance with GAAP. This role serves as a strategic link between the plant's business plan and actual results, ensuring profitability and identifying areas for improvement. The Plant Controller will also mentor plant leadership in financial decision-making and support continuous improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for budget planning and trend forecasting, providing explanations for significant variances.
  • Focus on month-end results and strategic planning to enhance business profitability.
  • Lead financial processes including month-end close, cost variance reconciliations, and inventory reconciliations.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and sound business practices in all plant accounting activities.
  • Coordinate and prepare internal financial reporting, including weekly and monthly performance presentations.
  • Support plant management with training on retrieving cost data from the system.
  • Interact proactively with plant management and senior management to ensure clarity on financial performance.
  • Act as an advisor on accounting and finance to plant leadership.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and participate in problem-solving events.
  • Develop annual plant business plans and co-manage the capital process with project managers.
  • Research issues and provide insights to key questions regarding financial performance.
  • Evaluate and improve plant accounting and internal control systems.
  • Create forward-looking financial models and conduct trend forecasting.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; Master's degree preferred.
  • 8 to 10 years of related experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in manufacturing accounting with a focus on cost accounting.
  • Solid verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and leadership skills.
  • Ability to understand changes in manufacturing strategy and provide insights.

Nice-to-haves

  • CPA or CMA certification preferred.
  • Experience in manufacturing planning and budgeting roles.
