About the position

The Finance Leader at Teleflex is responsible for overseeing all financial activities at the Chelmsford, MA operation. This role involves planning, organizing, and directing the overall budgeting and forecasting processes for various functional areas. The Finance Leader will complete monthly summaries of financial statements and provide in-depth analysis of key components of the profit and loss statement, balance sheet, and cash flow forecasts. Additionally, this position collaborates with site leadership to develop long-term strategies for the plant and define the key enablers for success. Continuous improvement in all financial processes is a critical aspect of this role, as is the management and development of the site Operations Finance team members. The Finance Leader will develop, interpret, and report financial information for the Chelmsford operation in a timely manner, ensuring compliance with specified requirements. This position serves as a member of the operations management team, partnering with site management to make financially sound business decisions. Maintaining the integrity of the plant's accounting books and other necessary records for external and management reporting is essential. The Finance Leader will analyze financials, including P&L, balance sheet, and working capital, while monitoring and managing results against plans and forecasts. Timely reviews and analyses of actual financial results versus plans, forecasts, and prior periods will be provided to upper management and peers. The role also involves completing financial roll-forward analyses for quarterly and year-to-date results calls. Utilizing the site ERP system, the Finance Leader will analyze significant work order variances, perform Pareto analyses to identify root causes of variances, and direct activities to improve the plant's cost base. Understanding ERP system setups, calculations, and postings of manufacturing performance is crucial to preserving the integrity of financial results. The Finance Leader is responsible for developing appropriate standard product costs to accurately reflect the profitability of the product portfolio and set baselines for measuring manufacturing performance. Key performance measures and tracking systems for the plant will be maintained and developed to measure progress and identify focus areas for improvement. The role includes coordinating, reviewing, analyzing, and summarizing components of the budget process, including Cost of Goods Sold and factory expense budgets. The Finance Leader will partner with site Operations Management to develop cost reduction and supply chain improvement strategies to meet both short and long-term business objectives. A strong internal control environment will be established to protect the business's human, tangible, and intangible assets, and an audit function will be performed as needed to ensure compliance with reporting systems and processes.

Responsibilities

  • Provide costing support for new product development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
  • Three to four years as a Cost Accounting Manager or Controller/Assistant Controller in a manufacturing enterprise with full responsibility for the Cost Accounting function.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations with limited standardization.
  • Analyze financial data, draw sound conclusions, and recommend effective courses of action.
  • Proficient in the use of SAP system and its application to finance administration.
  • Proficient with personal productivity applications including Microsoft Office, with advanced Excel skills required.
  • High degree of initiative to understand results, forecasts, and future planning.
  • Understanding of theory, principles, and practices of general finance, accounting, budgeting, financial planning, and cost accounting as applied to reporting and planning.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and develop financial team members.
  • Establish and maintain cooperative relations with workplace contacts.
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders and manage across a matrix organization.
  • Working knowledge of Lean principles is ideal.
  • Experience in change projects is ideal.
  • Ability to deal tactfully and persuasively with others in controversial situations.
