About the position

As a Plant Controller at Stanley Black & Decker, you will play a crucial role in our T&O Global Manufacturing team, working on-site in Dallas, TX. This position is designed for individuals who are committed to maintaining a strong control environment and ensuring the accuracy of financial statements in accordance with US GAAP and company policies. You will be responsible for managing the month-end and quarterly close processes, ensuring compliance with internal controls and Sarbanes-Oxley requirements, and overseeing the year-end plant physical inventory and cycle counting. Your role will also involve maintaining inventory control procedures and assisting in their development, as well as overseeing the preparation, analysis, and reconciliation of specific accounts. In addition to these responsibilities, you will maintain and control the fixed asset sub-ledger, monitor fixed asset expenditures, and conduct audits. A key part of your role will be proactively identifying business or accounting risks and implementing appropriate countermeasures. You will serve as a strong business partner to the Plant Manager and operations team, providing reporting and transparency that drive actionable results. Your analytical skills will be put to use as you prepare and manage actual, forecast, and budget scenarios throughout the year, analyze plant performance, evaluate variances, and assess their effects on plant results. You will also provide scenario modeling and ad hoc analysis to support decision-making processes. As a leader, you will manage and mentor your team, providing ongoing development and learning experiences. You will be expected to work effectively in a matrix environment, liaising with BU and corporate finance and controllership. This position requires a proactive approach to supporting processes within GSS and taking ownership of your responsibilities. Responsibilities

  • Maintain a strong control environment and accurate financial statements in accordance with US GAAP and company policy.
  • Manage a complete and thorough month-end and quarterly close process.
  • Ensure full compliance and improvement to site internal controls and Sarbanes-Oxley requirements.
  • Coordinate and schedule year-end plant physical inventory and oversee and support cycle counting.
  • Maintain inventory control procedures and assist in their development.
  • Oversee preparation, analysis, and reconciliation of specific accounts.
  • Maintain and control fixed asset sub-ledger and monitor and review fixed asset expenditures, CIP reviews, and fixed asset audits.
  • Proactively identify business or accounting risks and implement countermeasures where appropriate.
  • Function as a strong business partner with the Plant Manager and operations team to provide reporting and transparency that drive actionable results.
  • Prepare and manage actual, forecast, and budget scenarios throughout the course of the year.
  • Analyze and interpret plant performance, evaluating variances and assessing the effects on plant results.
  • Provide scenario modeling and ad hoc analysis in a business case format to help drive decisions.
  • Lead and/or participate in presentations to plant employees, plant management, and to BU and corporate.
  • Manage and prioritize work and assignments for direct reports and staff.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting/Finance; CPA or MBA is a plus.
  • 5-7 years of Finance/Controllership experience, preferably with a publicly traded or large company.
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office applications and strong background with information technology.
  • Experience with US GAAP is required.
  • Experience with SAP and HFM is a plus.
