About the position

The Plant Engineer at BASF's Care Chemicals division in East Setauket, NY, is responsible for providing technical and troubleshooting support, managing capital projects, and ensuring compliance with Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) programs. This role requires collaboration across functions to enhance operational efficiency and reduce equipment downtime, while also supporting various engineering programs and initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical and troubleshooting support for plant operations.
• Lead and participate in root cause analysis and develop corrective action plans.
• Scope, design, and execute capital projects ranging from $100K to $1MM+.
• Support the site's Mechanical Integrity program and ensure proper asset maintenance.
• Manage the pressure relief device program and P&ID documentation.
• Interface with third-party engineering firms and project support teams.
• Support and lead Environmental, Health, and Safety programs, including contractor safety management.

Requirements

• B.S. Degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering required.
• Minimum 5 years of industry experience preferred.
• Prior work in a cGMP environment preferred.
• Experience with SAP and AutoCAD is a plus.
