The Data Center team at Google is responsible for designing and operating some of the most sophisticated electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, and HVAC systems in the world. Facilities Technicians play a crucial role in ensuring the optimal operation of these systems within the data centers. This position involves operating, monitoring, and supporting the physical conditions of the facilities, which includes managing the heating and cooling of air and water, overseeing power supply systems, generators, UPS systems, and electrical distribution and control systems. As a Facilities Technician, you will be tasked with inspecting, maintaining, and repairing various data center systems, including piping and non-critical electrical or mechanical components. You will provide daily assistance to senior technicians, which includes reading blueprints and schematics, conducting tours of systems, and assessing their operational status. Your role will also involve advocating for best practices and developing innovative approaches to reduce operational costs while enhancing overall data center efficiency. In addition to routine maintenance, you will ensure that environmental and safety standards are consistently met, identifying problems and making repairs swiftly. In emergency situations or abnormal conditions, you will manage data center performance issues and outages to minimize recovery time from failures. The work you do is vital to maintaining the architecture that supports Google's online services, ensuring that users have the best and fastest experience possible. This position offers a competitive salary range of $125,000 to $185,000, along with bonuses, equity, and benefits. The specific salary will depend on various factors, including work location, skills, experience, and education.
